“For as long as I can remember I have taken apart and put together anything that did not work or be in a form of my liking. I didn’t necessarily always get whatever I demolished back together again, but it was a good introduction into electronics. Unfortunately, as I grew up, I found it easier, or at least more convenient to buy a new radio than to try and salvage one I had listened to since I was 5 yrs. old. Nonetheless, I never got away from having to use my hands, whether in hobby or work, to be happy. I still walk through a gift shop or peruse through a magazine saying, ‘I could make that!’ about any interesting item that is way out of my budget, as is often the case.”
“I am currently working on my Studio Art degree with an interest in kinetic art and functional art. My art mediums have mainly been photography and sculpture. Recently, my work in sculpture has brought me back to my early curiosities in electronics, but physics is fast becoming my means to create kinetic sculpture. I think that [is] what makes kinetic sculpture so appealing to me is the piece takes on a life of its own. The object becomes a character in wood or metal or found objects that is able to communicate and interact with those of us who are flesh and blood.”
